1  Against Moab⁴¹²⁴ thus³⁵⁴¹ saith⁵⁵⁹ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ of hosts,⁶⁶³⁵ the God⁴³⁰ of Israel;³⁴⁷⁸ Woe¹⁹⁴⁵ unto⁴¹³ Nebo!⁵⁰¹⁵ for³⁵⁸⁸ it is spoiled:⁷⁷⁰³ Kiriathaim⁷¹⁵⁶ is confounded³⁰⁰¹ and taken:³⁹²⁰ Misgab⁴⁸⁶⁹ is confounded³⁰⁰¹ and dismayed.²⁸⁶⁵

2  There shall be no³⁶⁹ more⁵⁷⁵⁰ praise⁸⁴¹⁶ of Moab:⁴¹²⁴ in Heshbon²⁸⁰⁹ they have devised²⁸⁰³ evil⁷⁴⁵¹ against⁵⁹²¹ it; come,¹⁹⁸⁰ and let us cut it off³⁷⁷² from being a nation.^{4480 1471} Also¹⁵⁷¹ thou shalt be cut down,¹⁸²⁶ O Madmen;⁴⁰⁸⁶ the sword²⁷¹⁹ shall pursue^{1980 310} thee.

3  A voice⁶⁹⁶³ of crying⁶⁸¹⁸ shall be from Horonaim,^{4480 2773} spoiling⁷⁷⁰¹ and great¹⁴¹⁹ destruction.⁷⁶⁶⁷

4  Moab⁴¹²⁴ is destroyed;⁷⁶⁶⁵ her little ones⁶⁸¹⁰ have caused a cry²²⁰¹ to be heard.⁸⁰⁸⁵

5  For³⁵⁸⁸ in the going up⁴⁶⁰⁸ of Luhith³⁸⁷² continual weeping^{1065 1065} shall go up;⁵⁹²⁷ for³⁵⁸⁸ in the going down⁴¹⁷⁴ of Horonaim²⁷⁷³ the enemies⁶⁸⁶² have heard⁸⁰⁸⁵ a cry⁶⁸¹⁸ of destruction.⁷⁶⁶⁷

6  Flee,⁵¹²⁷ save⁴⁴²² your lives,⁵³¹⁵ and be¹⁹⁶¹ like the heath⁶¹⁷⁶ in the wilderness.⁴⁰⁵⁷

7  For³⁵⁸⁸ because³²⁸² thou hast trusted⁹⁸² in thy works⁴⁶³⁹ and in thy treasures,²¹⁴ thou⁸⁵⁹ shalt also¹⁵⁷¹ be taken:³⁹²⁰ and Chemosh³⁶⁴⁵ shall go forth³³¹⁸ into captivity¹⁴⁷³ with his priests³⁵⁴⁸ and his princes⁸²⁶⁹ together.³¹⁶²

8  And the spoiler⁷⁷⁰³ shall come⁹³⁵ upon⁴¹³ every³⁶⁰⁵ city,⁵⁸⁹² and no³⁸⁰⁸ city⁵⁸⁹² shall escape:⁴⁴²² the valley⁶⁰¹⁰ also shall perish,⁶ and the plain⁴³³⁴ shall be destroyed,⁸⁰⁴⁵ as⁸³⁴ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ hath spoken.⁵⁵⁹

9  Give⁵⁴¹⁴ wings⁶⁷³¹ unto Moab,⁴¹²⁴ that³⁵⁸⁸ it may flee⁵³²³ and get away:³³¹⁸ for the cities⁵⁸⁹² thereof shall be¹⁹⁶¹ desolate,⁸⁰⁴⁷ without any^{4480 369} to dwell³⁴²⁷ therein.²⁰⁰⁴

10  Cursed⁷⁷⁹ be he that doeth⁶²¹³ the work⁴³⁹⁹ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ deceitfully,⁷⁴²³ and cursed⁷⁷⁹ be he that keepeth back⁴⁵¹³ his sword²⁷¹⁹ from blood.^{4480 1818}

11  Moab⁴¹²⁴ hath been at ease⁷⁵⁹⁹ from his youth,^{4480 5271} and he¹⁹³¹ hath settled⁸²⁵² on⁴¹³ his lees,⁸¹⁰⁵ and hath not³⁸⁰⁸ been emptied⁷³²⁴ from vessel^{4480 3627} to⁴¹³ vessel,³⁶²⁷ neither³⁸⁰⁸ hath he gone¹⁹⁸⁰ into captivity:¹⁴⁷³ therefore^{5921 3651} his taste²⁹⁴⁰ remained⁵⁹⁷⁵ in him, and his scent⁷³⁸¹ is not³⁸⁰⁸ changed.⁴¹⁷¹

12  Therefore,³⁶⁵¹ behold,²⁰⁰⁹ the days³¹¹⁷ come,⁹³⁵ saith⁵⁰⁰² the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ that I will send⁷⁹⁷¹ unto him wanderers,⁶⁸⁰⁸ that shall cause him to wander,⁶⁸⁰⁸ and shall empty⁷³²⁴ his vessels,³⁶²⁷ and break⁵³¹⁰ their bottles.⁵⁰³⁵

13  And Moab⁴¹²⁴ shall be ashamed⁹⁵⁴ of Chemosh,^{4480 3645} as⁸³⁴ the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ was ashamed⁹⁵⁴ of Bethel^{4480 1008} their confidence.⁴⁰⁰⁹

14  How³⁴⁹ say⁵⁵⁹ ye, We⁵⁸⁷ are mighty¹³⁶⁸ and strong²⁴²⁸ men³⁷⁶ for the war?⁴⁴²¹

15  Moab⁴¹²⁴ is spoiled,⁷⁷⁰³ and gone up⁵⁹²⁷ out of her cities,⁵⁸⁹² and his chosen⁴⁰⁰⁵ young men⁹⁷⁰ are gone down³³⁸¹ to the slaughter,²⁸⁷⁴ saith⁵⁰⁰² the King,⁴⁴²⁸ whose name⁸⁰³⁴ is the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ of hosts.⁶⁶³⁵

16  The calamity³⁴³ of Moab⁴¹²⁴ is near⁷¹³⁸ to come,⁹³⁵ and his affliction⁷⁴⁵¹ hasteth⁴¹¹⁶ fast.³⁹⁶⁶

17  All³⁶⁰⁵ ye that are about⁵⁴³⁹ him, bemoan⁵¹¹⁰ him; and all³⁶⁰⁵ ye that know³⁰⁴⁵ his name,⁸⁰³⁴ say,⁵⁵⁹ How³⁴⁹ is the strong⁵⁷⁹⁷ staff⁴²⁹⁴ broken,⁷⁶⁶⁵ and the beautiful⁸⁵⁹⁷ rod!⁴⁷³¹

18  Thou daughter¹³²³ that dost inhabit³⁴²⁷ Dibon,¹⁷⁶⁹ come down³³⁸¹ from thy glory,^{4480 3519} and sit³⁴²⁷ in thirst;⁶⁷⁷² for³⁵⁸⁸ the spoiler⁷⁷⁰³ of Moab⁴¹²⁴ shall come⁵⁹²⁷ upon thee, and he shall destroy⁷⁸⁴³ thy strongholds.⁴⁰¹³

19  O inhabitant³⁴²⁷ of Aroer,⁶¹⁷⁷ stand⁵⁹⁷⁵ by⁴¹³ the way,¹⁸⁷⁰ and espy;⁶⁸²² ask⁷⁵⁹² him that fleeth,⁵¹²⁷ and her that escapeth,⁴⁴²² and say,⁵⁵⁹ What⁴¹⁰⁰ is¹⁹⁶¹ done?

20  Moab⁴¹²⁴ is confounded;³⁰⁰¹ for³⁵⁸⁸ it is broken down:²⁸⁶⁵ howl³²¹³ and cry;²¹⁹⁹ tell⁵⁰⁴⁶ ye it in Arnon,⁷⁶⁹ that³⁵⁸⁸ Moab⁴¹²⁴ is spoiled,⁷⁷⁰³

21  And judgment⁴⁹⁴¹ is come⁹³⁵ upon⁴¹³ the plain⁴³³⁴ country;⁷⁷⁶ upon⁴¹³ Holon,²⁴⁷³ and upon⁴¹³ Jahazah,³⁰⁹⁶ and upon⁵⁹²¹ Mephaath,⁴¹⁵⁸

22  And upon⁵⁹²¹ Dibon,¹⁷⁶⁹ and upon⁵⁹²¹ Nebo,⁵⁰¹⁵ and upon⁵⁹²¹ Beth-diblathaim,¹⁰¹⁵

23  And upon⁵⁹²¹ Kiriathaim,⁷¹⁵⁶ and upon⁵⁹²¹ Beth-gamul,¹⁰¹⁴ and upon⁵⁹²¹ Bethmeon,¹⁰¹⁰

24  And upon⁵⁹²¹ Kerioth,⁷¹⁵² and upon⁵⁹²¹ Bozrah,¹²²⁴ and upon⁵⁹²¹ all³⁶⁰⁵ the cities⁵⁸⁹² of the land⁷⁷⁶ of Moab,⁴¹²⁴ far⁷³⁵⁰ or near.⁷¹³⁸

25  The horn⁷¹⁶¹ of Moab⁴¹²⁴ is cut off,¹⁴³⁸ and his arm²²²⁰ is broken,⁷⁶⁶⁵ saith⁵⁰⁰² the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

26  Make ye him drunken:⁷⁹³⁷ for³⁵⁸⁸ he magnified¹⁴³¹ himself against⁵⁹²¹ the LORD:³⁰⁶⁸ Moab⁴¹²⁴ also shall wallow⁵⁶⁰⁶ in his vomit,⁶⁸⁹² and he¹⁹³¹ also¹⁵⁷¹ shall be¹⁹⁶¹ in derision.⁷⁸¹⁴

27  For⁵¹⁸ was¹⁹⁶¹ not³⁸⁰⁸ Israel³⁴⁷⁸ a derision⁷⁸¹⁴ unto thee? was he found⁴⁶⁷² among thieves?¹⁵⁹⁰ for³⁵⁸⁸ since^{4480 1767} thou spakest¹⁶⁹⁷ of him, thou skippedst for joy.⁵¹¹⁰

28  O ye that dwell³⁴²⁷ in Moab,⁴¹²⁴ leave⁵⁸⁰⁰ the cities,⁵⁸⁹² and dwell⁷⁹³¹ in the rock,⁵⁵⁵³ and be¹⁹⁶¹ like the dove³¹²³ that maketh her nest⁷⁰⁷⁷ in the sides⁵⁶⁷⁶ of the hole's⁶³⁵⁴ mouth.⁶³¹⁰

29  We have heard⁸⁰⁸⁵ the pride¹³⁴⁷ of Moab,⁴¹²⁴ (he is exceeding³⁹⁶⁶ proud)¹³⁴³ his loftiness,¹³⁶³ and his arrogance,¹³⁴⁷ and his pride,¹³⁴⁶ and the haughtiness⁷³¹² of his heart.³⁸²⁰

30  I⁵⁸⁹ know³⁰⁴⁵ his wrath,⁵⁶⁷⁸ saith⁵⁰⁰² the LORD;³⁰⁶⁸ but it shall not³⁸⁰⁸ be so;³⁶⁵¹ his lies⁹⁰⁷ shall not³⁸⁰⁸ so³⁶⁵¹ effect⁶²¹³ it.

31  Therefore^{5921 3651} will I howl³²¹³ for⁵⁹²¹ Moab,⁴¹²⁴ and I will cry out²¹⁹⁹ for all³⁶⁰⁵ Moab;⁴¹²⁴ mine heart shall mourn¹⁸⁹⁷ for⁴¹³ the men³⁷⁶ of Kir-heres.⁷⁰²⁵

32  O vine¹⁶¹² of Sibmah,⁷⁶⁴³ I will weep¹⁰⁵⁸ for thee with the weeping^{4480 1065} of Jazer:³²⁷⁰ thy plants⁵¹⁸⁹ are gone over⁵⁶⁷⁴ the sea,³²²⁰ they reach⁵⁰⁶⁰ even to⁵⁷⁰⁴ the sea³²²⁰ of Jazer:³²⁷⁰ the spoiler⁷⁷⁰³ is fallen⁵³⁰⁷ upon⁵⁹²¹ thy summer fruits⁷⁰¹⁹ and upon⁵⁹²¹ thy vintage.¹²¹⁰

33  And joy⁸⁰⁵⁷ and gladness¹⁵²⁴ is taken⁶²² from the plentiful field,^{4480 3759} and from the land^{4480 776} of Moab;⁴¹²⁴ and I have caused wine³¹⁹⁶ to fail⁷⁶⁷³ from the winepresses:^{4480 3342} none³⁸⁰⁸ shall tread¹⁸⁶⁹ with shouting;¹⁹⁵⁹ their shouting¹⁹⁵⁹ shall be no³⁸⁰⁸ shouting.¹⁹⁵⁹

34  From the cry^{4480 2201} of Heshbon²⁸⁰⁹ even unto⁵⁷⁰⁴ Elealeh,⁵⁰⁰ and even unto⁵⁷⁰⁴ Jahaz,³⁰⁹⁶ have they uttered⁵⁴¹⁴ their voice,⁶⁹⁶³ from Zoar^{4480 6820} even unto⁵⁷⁰⁴ Horonaim,²⁷⁷³ as a heifer⁵⁶⁹⁷ of three years old:⁷⁹⁹² for³⁵⁸⁸ the waters⁴³²⁵ also¹⁵⁷¹ of Nimrim⁵²⁴⁹ shall be¹⁹⁶¹ desolate.⁴⁹²³

35  Moreover I will cause to cease⁷⁶⁷³ in Moab,⁴¹²⁴ saith⁵⁰⁰² the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ him that offereth⁵⁹²⁷ in the high places,¹¹¹⁶ and him that burneth incense⁶⁹⁹⁹ to his gods.⁴³⁰

36  Therefore^{5921 3651} mine heart³⁸²⁰ shall sound¹⁹⁹³ for Moab⁴¹²⁴ like pipes,²⁴⁸⁵ and mine heart³⁸²⁰ shall sound¹⁹⁹³ like pipes²⁴⁸⁵ for⁴¹³ the men³⁷⁶ of Kir-heres:⁷⁰²⁵ because^{5921 3651} the riches³⁵⁰² that he hath gotten⁶²¹³ are perished.⁶

37  For³⁵⁸⁸ every³⁶⁰⁵ head⁷²¹⁸ shall be bald,⁷¹⁴⁴ and every³⁶⁰⁵ beard²²⁰⁶ clipped:¹⁶³⁹ upon⁵⁹²¹ all³⁶⁰⁵ the hands³⁰²⁷ shall be cuttings,¹⁴¹⁸ and upon⁵⁹²¹ the loins⁴⁹⁷⁵ sackcloth.⁸²⁴²

38  There shall be lamentation⁴⁵⁵³ generally³⁶⁰⁵ upon⁵⁹²¹ all³⁶⁰⁵ the housetops¹⁴⁰⁶ of Moab,⁴¹²⁴ and in the streets⁷³³⁹ thereof: for³⁵⁸⁸ I have broken^{7665 853} Moab⁴¹²⁴ like a vessel³⁶²⁷ wherein is no³⁶⁹ pleasure,²⁶⁵⁶ saith⁵⁰⁰² the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

39  They shall howl,³²¹³ saying, How³⁴⁹ is it broken down!²⁸⁶⁵ how³⁴⁹ hath Moab⁴¹²⁴ turned⁶⁴³⁷ the back⁶²⁰³ with shame!⁹⁵⁴ so shall Moab⁴¹²⁴ be¹⁹⁶¹ a derision⁷⁸¹⁴ and a dismaying⁴²⁸⁸ to all³⁶⁰⁵ them about⁵⁴³⁹ him.

40  For³⁵⁸⁸ thus³⁵⁴¹ saith⁵⁵⁹ the LORD;³⁰⁶⁸ Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ he shall fly¹⁶⁷⁵ as an eagle,⁵⁴⁰⁴ and shall spread⁶⁵⁶⁶ his wings³⁶⁷¹ over⁴¹³ Moab.⁴¹²⁴

41  Kerioth⁷¹⁵² is taken,³⁹²⁰ and the strongholds⁴⁶⁷⁹ are surprised,⁸⁶¹⁰ and the mighty men's¹³⁶⁸ hearts³⁸²⁰ in Moab⁴¹²⁴ at that¹⁹³¹ day³¹¹⁷ shall be¹⁹⁶¹ as the heart³⁸²⁰ of a woman⁸⁰² in her pangs.⁶⁸⁸⁷

42  And Moab⁴¹²⁴ shall be destroyed⁸⁰⁴⁵ from being a people,^{4480 5971} because³⁵⁸⁸ he hath magnified¹⁴³¹ himself against⁵⁹²¹ the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

43  Fear,⁶³⁴³ and the pit,⁶³⁵⁴ and the snare,⁶³⁴¹ shall be upon⁵⁹²¹ thee, O inhabitant³⁴²⁷ of Moab,⁴¹²⁴ saith⁵⁰⁰² the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

44  He that fleeth⁵²¹¹ from^{4480 6440} the fear⁶³⁴³ shall fall⁵³⁰⁷ into⁴¹³ the pit;⁶³⁵⁴ and he that getteth up⁵⁹²⁷ out of⁴⁴⁸⁰ the pit⁶³⁵⁴ shall be taken³⁹²⁰ in the snare:⁶³⁴¹ for³⁵⁸⁸ I will bring⁹³⁵ upon⁴¹³ it, even upon⁴¹³ Moab,⁴¹²⁴ the year⁸¹⁴¹ of their visitation,⁶⁴⁸⁶ saith⁵⁰⁰² the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

45  They that fled⁵¹²⁷ stood⁵⁹⁷⁵ under the shadow⁶⁷³⁸ of Heshbon²⁸⁰⁹ because of the force:^{4480 3581} but³⁵⁸⁸ a fire⁷⁸⁴ shall come forth³³¹⁸ out of Heshbon,^{4480 2809} and a flame³⁸⁵² from the midst^{4480 996} of Sihon,⁵⁵¹¹ and shall devour³⁹⁸ the corner⁶²⁸⁵ of Moab,⁴¹²⁴ and the crown of the head⁶⁹³⁶ of the tumultuous⁷⁵⁸⁸ ones.¹¹²¹

46  Woe¹⁸⁸ be unto thee, O Moab!⁴¹²⁴ the people⁵⁹⁷¹ of Chemosh³⁶⁴⁵ perisheth:⁶ for³⁵⁸⁸ thy sons¹¹²¹ are taken³⁹⁴⁷ captives,⁷⁶²⁸ and thy daughters¹³²³ captives.⁷⁶³³

47  Yet will I bring again⁷⁷²⁵ the captivity⁷⁶²² of Moab⁴¹²⁴ in the latter³¹⁹ days,³¹¹⁷ saith⁵⁰⁰² the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸ Thus²⁰⁰⁸ far⁵⁷⁰⁴ is the judgment⁴⁹⁴¹ of Moab.⁴¹²⁴

2 καὶ ἀνέστη Ισμαηλ καὶ οἱ δέκα ἄνδρες οἳ ἦσαν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπάταξαν τὸν Γοδολιαν ὃν κατέστησεν βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς

3 καὶ πάντας τοὺς Ιουδαίους τοὺς ὄντας μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἐν Μασσηφα καὶ πάντας τοὺς Χαλδαίους τοὺς εὑρεθέντας ἐκεῖ

4 καὶ ἐγένετο τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ δευτέρᾳ πατάξαντος αὐτοῦ τὸν Γοδολιαν καὶ ἄνθρωπος οὐκ ἔγνω

5 καὶ ἤλθοσαν ἄνδρες ἀπὸ Συχεμ καὶ ἀπὸ Σαλημ καὶ ἀπὸ Σαμαρείας ὀγδοήκοντα ἄνδρες ἐξυρημένοι πώγωνας καὶ διερρηγμένοι τὰ ἱμάτια καὶ κοπτόμενοι καὶ μαναα καὶ λίβανος ἐν χερσὶν αὐτῶν τοῦ εἰσενεγκεῖν εἰς οἶκον κυρίου

6 καὶ ἐξῆλθεν εἰς ἀπάντησιν αὐτοῖς Ισμαηλ αὐτοὶ ἐπορεύοντο καὶ ἔκλαιον καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς εἰσέλθετε πρὸς Γοδολιαν

7 καὶ ἐγένετο εἰσελθόντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ μέσον τῆς πόλεως ἔσφαξεν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸ φρέαρ

8 καὶ δέκα ἄνδρες εὑρέθησαν ἐκεῖ καὶ εἶπαν τῷ Ισμαηλ μὴ ἀνέλῃς ἡμᾶς ὅτι εἰσὶν ἡμῖν θησαυροὶ ἐν ἀγρῷ πυροὶ καὶ κριθαί μέλι καὶ ἔλαιον καὶ παρῆλθεν καὶ οὐκ ἀνεῖλεν αὐτοὺς ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν

9 καὶ τὸ φρέαρ εἰς ὃ ἔρριψεν ἐκεῖ Ισμαηλ πάντας οὓς ἐπάταξεν φρέαρ μέγα τοῦτό ἐστιν ὃ ἐποίησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ασα ἀπὸ προσώπου Βαασα βασιλέως Ισραηλ τοῦτο ἐνέπλησεν Ισμαηλ τραυματιῶν

10 καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν Ισμαηλ πάντα τὸν λαὸν τὸν καταλειφθέντα εἰς Μασσηφα καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας τοῦ βασιλέως ἃς παρεκατέθετο ὁ ἀρχιμάγειρος τῷ Γοδολια υἱῷ Αχικαμ καὶ ᾤχετο εἰς τὸ πέραν υἱῶν Αμμων

11 καὶ ἤκουσεν Ιωαναν υἱὸς Καρηε καὶ πάντες οἱ ἡγεμόνες τῆς δυνάμεως οἱ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ πάντα τὰ κακά ἃ ἐποίησεν Ισμαηλ

12 καὶ ἤγαγον ἅπαν τὸ στρατόπεδον αὐτῶν καὶ ᾤχοντο πολεμεῖν αὐτὸν καὶ εὗρον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ ὕδατος πολλοῦ ἐν Γαβαων

13 καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε εἶδον πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ὁ μετὰ Ισμαηλ τὸν Ιωαναν καὶ τοὺς ἡγεμόνας τῆς δυνάμεως τῆς μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ

14 καὶ ἀνέστρεψαν πρὸς Ιωαναν

15 καὶ Ισμαηλ ἐσώθη σὺν ὀκτὼ ἀνθρώποις καὶ ᾤχετο πρὸς τοὺς υἱοὺς Αμμων

16 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ιωαναν καὶ πάντες οἱ ἡγεμόνες τῆς δυνάμεως οἱ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ πάντας τοὺς καταλοίπους τοῦ λαοῦ οὕς ἀπέστρεψεν ἀπὸ Ισμαηλ δυνατοὺς ἄνδρας ἐν πολέμῳ καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ λοιπὰ καὶ τοὺς εὐνούχους οὓς ἀπέστρεψεν ἀπὸ Γαβαων

‎1 ‏לְמוֹאָ֡ב כֹּֽה־אָמַר֩ יְהוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל ה֤וֹי אֶל־נְבוֹ֙ כִּ֣י שֻׁדָּ֔דָה הֹבִ֥ישָׁה נִלְכְּדָ֖ה קִרְיָתָ֑יִם הֹבִ֥ישָׁה הַמִּשְׂגָּ֖ב וָחָֽתָּה׃

‎2 ‏אֵ֣ין עוֹד֮ תְּהִלַּ֣ת מוֹאָב֒ בְּחֶשְׁבּ֗וֹן חָשְׁב֤וּ עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ רָעָ֔ה לְכ֖וּ וְנַכְרִיתֶ֣נָּה מִגּ֑וֹי גַּם־מַדְמֵ֣ן תִּדֹּ֔מִּי אַחֲרַ֖יִךְ תֵּ֥לֶךְ חָֽרֶב׃

‎3 ‏ק֥וֹל צְעָקָ֖ה מֵחֹֽרוֹנָ֑יִם שֹׁ֖ד וָשֶׁ֥בֶר גָּדֽוֹל׃

‎4 ‏נִשְׁבְּרָ֖ה מוֹאָ֑ב הִשְׁמִ֥יעוּ זְּעָקָ֖ה צעוריה צְעִירֶֽיהָ׃

‎5 ‏כִּ֚י מַעֲלֵ֣ה הלחות הַלּוּחִ֔ית³ בִּבְכִ֖י יַֽעֲלֶה־בֶּ֑כִי כִּ֚י בְּמוֹרַ֣ד חוֹרֹנַ֔יִם צָרֵ֥י צַֽעֲקַת־שֶׁ֖בֶר שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃

‎6 ‏נֻ֖סוּ מַלְּט֣וּ נַפְשְׁכֶ֑ם וְתִֽהְיֶ֕ינָה כַּעֲרוֹעֵ֖ר בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃

‎7 ‏כִּ֠י יַ֣עַן בִּטְחֵ֤ךְ בְּמַעֲשַׂ֙יִךְ֙ וּבְא֣וֹצְרוֹתַ֔יִךְ גַּם־אַ֖תְּ תִּלָּכֵ֑דִי וְיָצָ֤א כמיש כְמוֹשׁ֙ בַּגּוֹלָ֔ה כֹּהֲנָ֥יו וְשָׂרָ֖יו יחד יַחְדָּֽיו׃

‎8 ‏וְיָבֹ֨א שֹׁדֵ֜ד אֶל־כָּל־עִ֗יר וְעִיר֙ לֹ֣א תִמָּלֵ֔ט וְאָבַ֥ד הָעֵ֖מֶק וְנִשְׁמַ֣ד הַמִּישֹׁ֑ר אֲשֶׁ֖ר אָמַ֥ר יְהוָֽה׃

‎9 ‏תְּנוּ־צִ֣יץ לְמוֹאָ֔ב כִּ֥י נָצֹ֖א תֵּצֵ֑א וְעָרֶ֙יהָ֙ לְשַׁמָּ֣ה תִֽהְיֶ֔ינָה מֵאֵ֥ין יוֹשֵׁ֖ב בָּהֵֽן׃

‎10 ‏אָר֗וּר עֹשֶׂ֛ה מְלֶ֥אכֶת יְהוָ֖ה רְמִיָּ֑ה וְאָר֕וּר מֹנֵ֥עַ חַרְבּ֖וֹ מִדָּֽם׃

‎11 ‏שַׁאֲנַ֨ן מוֹאָ֜ב מִנְּעוּרָ֗יו וְשֹׁקֵ֥ט הוּא֙ אֶל־שְׁמָרָ֔יו וְלֹֽא־הוּרַ֤ק מִכְּלִי֙ אֶל־כֶּ֔לִי וּבַגּוֹלָ֖ה לֹ֣א הָלָ֑ךְ עַל־כֵּ֗ן עָמַ֤ד טַעְמוֹ֙ בּ֔וֹ וְרֵיח֖וֹ לֹ֥א נָמָֽר׃ ס

‎12 ‏לָכֵ֞ן הִנֵּ֖ה־יָמִ֤ים בָּאִים֙ נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔ה וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי־ל֥וֹ צֹעִ֖ים וְצֵעֻ֑הוּ וְכֵלָ֣יו יָרִ֔יקוּ וְנִבְלֵיהֶ֖ם יְנַפֵּֽצוּ׃

‎13 ‏וּבֹ֥שׁ מוֹאָ֖ב מִכְּמ֑וֹשׁ כַּאֲשֶׁר־בֹּ֙שׁוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִבֵּ֥ית אֵ֖ל מִבְטֶחָֽם׃

‎14 ‏אֵ֚יךְ תֹּֽאמְר֔וּ גִּבּוֹרִ֖ים אֲנָ֑חְנוּ וְאַנְשֵׁי־חַ֖יִל לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

‎15 ‏שֻׁדַּ֤ד מוֹאָב֙ וְעָרֶ֣יהָ עָלָ֔ה וּמִבְחַ֥ר בַּֽחוּרָ֖יו יָרְד֣וּ לַטָּ֑בַח נְאֻ֨ם־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת שְׁמֽוֹ׃

‎16 ‏קָר֥וֹב אֵיד־מוֹאָ֖ב לָב֑וֹא וְרָ֣עָת֔וֹ מִהֲרָ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃

‎17 ‏נֻ֤דוּ לוֹ֙ כָּל־סְבִיבָ֔יו וְכֹ֖ל יֹדְעֵ֣י שְׁמ֑וֹ אִמְר֗וּ אֵיכָ֤ה נִשְׁבַּר֙ מַטֵּה־עֹ֔ז מַקֵּ֖ל תִּפְאָרָֽה׃

‎18 ‏רְדִ֤י מִכָּבוֹד֙ ישבי וּשְׁבִ֣י בַצָּמָ֔א יֹשֶׁ֖בֶת בַּת־דִּיב֑וֹן כִּֽי־שֹׁדֵ֤ד מוֹאָב֙ עָ֣לָה בָ֔ךְ שִׁחֵ֖ת מִבְצָרָֽיִךְ׃

‎19 ‏אֶל־דֶּ֛רֶךְ עִמְדִ֥י וְצַפִּ֖י יוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת עֲרוֹעֵ֑ר שַׁאֲלִי־נָ֣ס וְנִמְלָ֔טָה אִמְרִ֖י מַה־נִּֽהְיָֽתָה׃

‎20 ‏הֹבִ֥ישׁ מוֹאָ֛ב כִּֽי־חַ֖תָּה הילילי הֵילִ֣ילוּ׀ וזעקי וּֽזְעָ֑קוּ הַגִּ֣ידוּ בְאַרְנ֔וֹן כִּ֥י שֻׁדַּ֖ד מוֹאָֽב׃

‎21 ‏וּמִשְׁפָּ֥ט בָּ֖א אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ הַמִּישֹׁ֑ר אֶל־חֹל֥וֹן וְאֶל־יַ֖הְצָה וְעַל־מופעת מֵיפָֽעַת׃

‎22 ‏וְעַל־דִּיב֣וֹן וְעַל־נְב֔וֹ וְעַל־בֵּ֖ית דִּבְלָתָֽיִם׃

‎23 ‏וְעַ֧ל קִרְיָתַ֛יִם וְעַל־בֵּ֥ית גָּמ֖וּל וְעַל־בֵּ֥ית מְעֽוֹן׃

‎24 ‏וְעַל־קְרִיּ֖וֹת וְעַל־בָּצְרָ֑ה וְעַ֗ל כָּל־עָרֵי֙ אֶ֣רֶץ מוֹאָ֔ב הָרְחֹק֖וֹת וְהַקְּרֹבֽוֹת׃

‎25 ‏נִגְדְּעָה֙ קֶ֣רֶן מוֹאָ֔ב וּזְרֹע֖וֹ נִשְׁבָּ֑רָה נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָֽה׃

‎26 ‏הַשְׁכִּירֻ֕הוּ כִּ֥י עַל־יְהוָ֖ה הִגְדִּ֑יל וְסָפַ֤ק מוֹאָב֙ בְּקִיא֔וֹ וְהָיָ֥ה לִשְׂחֹ֖ק גַּם־הֽוּא׃

‎27 ‏וְאִ֣ם׀ ל֣וֹא הַשְּׂחֹ֗ק הָיָ֤ה לְךָ֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אִם־בְּגַנָּבִ֖ים נמצאה נִמְצָ֑א כִּֽי־מִדֵּ֧י דְבָרֶ֥יךָ בּ֖וֹ תִּתְנוֹדָֽד׃

‎28 ‏עִזְב֤וּ עָרִים֙ וְשִׁכְנ֣וּ בַּסֶּ֔לַע יֹשְׁבֵ֖י מוֹאָ֑ב וִֽהְי֣וּ כְיוֹנָ֔ה תְּקַנֵּ֖ן בְּעֶבְרֵ֥י פִי־פָֽחַת׃

‎29 ‏שָׁמַ֥עְנוּ גְאוֹן־מוֹאָ֖ב גֵּאֶ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד גָּבְה֧וֹ וּגְאוֹנ֛וֹ וְגַאֲוָת֖וֹ וְרֻ֥ם לִבּֽוֹ׃

‎30 ‏אֲנִ֤י יָדַ֨עְתִּ֨י נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔ה עֶבְרָת֖וֹ וְלֹא־כֵ֑ן בַּדָּ֖יו לֹא־כֵ֥ן עָשֽׂוּ׃

‎31 ‏עַל־כֵּן֙ עַל־מוֹאָ֣ב אֲיֵלִ֔יל וּלְמוֹאָ֥ב כֻּלֹּ֖ה אֶזְעָ֑ק אֶל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י קִֽיר־חֶ֖רֶשׂ יֶהְגֶּֽה׃

‎32 ‏מִבְּכִ֨י יַעְזֵ֤ר אֶבְכֶּה־לָּךְ֙ הַגֶּ֣פֶן שִׂבְמָ֔ה נְטִֽישֹׁתַ֙יִךְ֙ עָ֣בְרוּ יָ֔ם עַ֛ד יָ֥ם יַעְזֵ֖ר נָגָ֑עוּ עַל־קֵיצֵ֥ךְ וְעַל־בְּצִירֵ֖ךְ שֹׁדֵ֖ד נָפָֽל׃

‎33 ‏וְנֶאֶסְפָ֨ה שִׂמְחָ֥ה וָגִ֛יל מִכַּרְמֶ֖ל וּמֵאֶ֣רֶץ מוֹאָ֑ב וְיַ֙יִן֙ מִיקָבִ֣ים הִשְׁבַּ֔תִּי לֹֽא־יִדְרֹ֣ךְ הֵידָ֔ד הֵידָ֖ד לֹ֥א הֵידָֽד׃

‎34 ‏מִזַּעֲקַ֨ת חֶשְׁבּ֜וֹן עַד־אֶלְעָלֵ֗ה עַד־יַ֙הַץ֙ נָתְנ֣וּ קוֹלָ֔ם מִצֹּ֙עַר֙ עַד־חֹ֣רֹנַ֔יִם עֶגְלַ֖ת שְׁלִֽשִׁיָּ֑ה כִּ֚י גַּם־מֵ֣י נִמְרִ֔ים לִמְשַׁמּ֖וֹת יִהְיֽוּ׃

‎35 ‏וְהִשְׁבַּתִּ֥י לְמוֹאָ֖ב נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה מַעֲלֶ֣ה בָמָ֔ה וּמַקְטִ֖יר לֵאלֹהָֽיו׃

‎36 ‏עַל־כֵּ֞ן לִבִּ֤י לְמוֹאָב֙ כַּחֲלִלִ֣ים יֶהֱמֶ֔ה וְלִבִּי֙ אֶל־אַנְשֵׁ֣י קִֽיר־חֶ֔רֶשׂ כַּחֲלִילִ֖ים יֶהֱמֶ֑ה עַל־כֵּ֛ן יִתְרַ֥ת עָשָׂ֖ה אָבָֽדוּ׃

‎37 ‏כִּ֤י כָל־רֹאשׁ֙ קָרְחָ֔ה וְכָל־זָקָ֖ן גְּרֻעָ֑ה עַ֤ל כָּל־יָדַ֙יִם֙ גְּדֻדֹ֔ת וְעַל־מָתְנַ֖יִם שָֽׂק׃

‎38 ‏עַ֣ל כָּל־גַּגּ֥וֹת מוֹאָ֛ב וּבִרְחֹבֹתֶ֖יהָ כֻּלֹּ֣ה מִסְפֵּ֑ד כִּֽי־שָׁבַ֣רְתִּי אֶת־מוֹאָ֗ב כִּכְלִ֛י אֵֽין־חֵ֥פֶץ בּ֖וֹ נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

‎39 ‏אֵ֥יךְ חַ֙תָּה֙ הֵילִ֔ילוּ אֵ֛יךְ הִפְנָה־עֹ֥רֶף מוֹאָ֖ב בּ֑וֹשׁ וְהָיָ֥ה מוֹאָ֛ב לִשְׂחֹ֥ק וְלִמְחִתָּ֖ה לְכָל־סְבִיבָֽיו׃ ס

‎40 ‏כִּי־כֹה֙ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנֵּ֥ה כַנֶּ֖שֶׁר יִדְאֶ֑ה וּפָרַ֥שׂ כְּנָפָ֖יו אֶל־מוֹאָֽב׃

‎41 ‏נִלְכְּדָה֙ הַקְּרִיּ֔וֹת וְהַמְּצָד֖וֹת נִתְפָּ֑שָׂה וְֽ֠הָיָה לֵ֞ב גִּבּוֹרֵ֤י מוֹאָב֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא כְּלֵ֖ב אִשָּׁ֥ה מְצֵרָֽה׃

‎42 ‏וְנִשְׁמַ֥ד מוֹאָ֖ב מֵעָ֑ם כִּ֥י עַל־יְהוָ֖ה הִגְדִּֽיל׃

‎43 ‏פַּ֥חַד וָפַ֖חַת וָפָ֑ח עָלֶ֛יךָ יוֹשֵׁ֥ב מוֹאָ֖ב נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

‎44 ‏הניס הַנָּ֞ס מִפְּנֵ֤י הַפַּ֙חַד֙ יִפֹּ֣ל אֶל־הַפַּ֔חַת וְהָֽעֹלֶה֙ מִן־הַפַּ֔חַת יִלָּכֵ֖ד בַּפָּ֑ח כִּֽי־אָבִ֨יא אֵלֶ֧יהָ אֶל־מוֹאָ֛ב שְׁנַ֥ת פְּקֻדָּתָ֖ם נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃

‎45 ‏בְּצֵ֥ל חֶשְׁבּ֛וֹן עָמְד֖וּ מִכֹּ֣חַ נָסִ֑ים כִּֽי־אֵ֞שׁ יָצָ֣א מֵחֶשְׁבּ֗וֹן וְלֶֽהָבָה֙ מִבֵּ֣ין סִיח֔וֹן וַתֹּ֙אכַל֙ פְּאַ֣ת מוֹאָ֔ב וְקָדְקֹ֖ד בְּנֵ֥י שָׁאֽוֹן׃

‎46 ‏אוֹי־לְךָ֣ מוֹאָ֔ב אָבַ֖ד עַם־כְּמ֑וֹשׁ כִּֽי־לֻקְּח֤וּ בָנֶ֙יךָ֙ בַּשֶּׁ֔בִי וּבְנֹתֶ֖יךָ בַּשִּׁבְיָֽה׃

‎47 ‏וְשַׁבְתִּ֧י שְׁבוּת־מוֹאָ֛ב בְּאַחֲרִ֥ית הַיָּמִ֖ים נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה עַד־הֵ֖נָּה מִשְׁפַּ֥ט מוֹאָֽב׃ ס

1 Ad Moab. [Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël:
Væ super Nabo, quoniam vastata est, et confusa!
capta est Cariathaim, confusa est fortis, et tremuit.

2 Non est ultra exsultatio in Moab contra Hesebon:
cogitaverunt malum: Venite, et disperdamus eam de gente.
Ergo silens conticesces, sequeturque te gladius.

3 Vox clamoris de Oronaim, vastitas et contritio magna.

4 Contrita est Moab: annuntiate clamorem parvulis ejus.

5 Per ascensum enim Luith
plorans ascendet in fletu,
quoniam in descensu Oronaim
hostes ululatum contritionis audierunt.

6 Fugite, salvate animas vestras,
et eritis quasi myricæ in deserto:

7 pro eo enim quod habuisti fiduciam
in munitionibus tuis et in thesauris tuis,
tu quoque capieris:
et ibit Chamos in transmigrationem,
sacerdotes ejus et principes ejus simul.

8 Et veniet prædo ad omnem urbem,
et urbs nulla salvabitur:
et peribunt valles,
et dissipabuntur campestria,
quoniam dixit Dominus:

9 Date florem Moab, quia florens egredietur:
et civitates ejus desertæ erunt, et inhabitabiles.

10 Maledictus qui facit opus Domini fraudulenter,
et maledictus qui prohibet gladium suum a sanguine.

11 Fertilis fuit Moab ab adolescentia sua,
et requievit in fæcibus suis:
nec transfusus est de vase in vas,
et in transmigrationem non abiit:
idcirco permansit gustus ejus in eo,
et odor ejus non est immutatus.

12 Propterea ecce dies veniunt, dicit Dominus,
et mittam ei ordinatores et stratores laguncularum:
et sternent eum, et vasa ejus exhaurient,
et lagunculas eorum collident.

13 Et confundetur Moab a Chamos
sicut confusa est domus Israël a Bethel,
in qua habebat fiduciam.

14 Quomodo dicitis: Fortes sumus,
et viri robusti ad præliandum?

15 Vastata est Moab, et civitates illius succiderunt,
et electi juvenes ejus descenderunt in occisionem, ait Rex:
Dominus exercituum nomen ejus.

16 Prope est interitus Moab ut veniat,
et malum ejus velociter accurret nimis.

17 Consolamini eum, omnes qui estis in circuitu ejus:
et universi qui scitis nomen ejus, dicite:
Quomodo confracta est virga fortis,
baculus gloriosus?

18 Descende de gloria, et sede in siti,
habitatio filiæ Dibon,
quoniam vastator Moab ascendit ad te:
dissipavit munitiones tuas.

19 In via sta, et prospice,
habitatio Aroër:
interroga fugientem,
et ei qui evasit dic: Quid accidit?

20 Confusus est Moab, quoniam victus est.
Ululate, et clamate:
annuntiate in Arnon,
quoniam vastata est Moab,

21 et judicium venit ad terram campestrem,
super Helon, et super Jasa,
et super Mephaath,

22 et super Dibon,
et super Nabo, et super domum Deblathaim,

23 et super Cariathaim, et super Bethgamul,
et super Bethmaon,

24 et super Carioth,
et super Bosra, et super omnes civitates terræ Moab,
quæ longe et quæ prope sunt.

25 Abscissum est cornu Moab,
et brachium ejus contritum est, ait Dominus.

26 Inebriate eum, quoniam contra Dominum erectus est:
et allidet manum Moab in vomitu suo,
et erit in derisum etiam ipse.

27 Fuit enim in derisum tibi Israël:
quasi inter fures reperisses eum:
propter verba ergo tua quæ adversum illum locutus es,
captivus duceris.

28 Relinquite civitates, et habitate in petra, habitatores Moab:
et estote quasi columba nidificans in summo ore foraminis.

29 Audivimus superbiam Moab: superbus est valde:
sublimitatem ejus, et arrogantiam,
et superbiam, et altitudinem cordis ejus.

30 Ego scio, ait Dominus, jactantiam ejus,
et quod non sit juxta eam virtus ejus,
nec juxta quod poterat conata sit facere.

31 Ideo super Moab ejulabo,
et ad Moab universam clamabo,
ad viros muri fictilis lamentantes:

32 de planctu Jazer plorabo tibi, vinea Sabama.
Propagines tuæ transierunt mare;
usque ad mare Jazer pervenerunt:
super messem tuam et vindemiam tuam prædo irruit.

33 Ablata est lætitia et exsultatio
de Carmelo et de terra Moab,
et vinum de torcularibus sustuli:
nequaquam calcator uvæ solitum celeuma cantabit.

34 De clamore Hesebon usque Eleale et Jasa, dederunt vocem suam;
a Segor usque ad Oronaim, vitula conternante:
aquæ quoque Nemrim pessimæ erunt.

35 Et auferam de Moab, ait Dominus,
offerentem in excelsis,
et sacrificantem diis ejus.

36 Propterea cor meum ad Moab quasi tibiæ resonabit,
et cor meum ad viros muri fictilis dabit sonitum tibiarum:
quia plus fecit quam potuit,
idcirco perierunt.

37 Omne enim caput calvitium,
et omnis barba rasa erit:
in cunctis manibus colligatio,
et super omne dorsum cilicium:

38 super omnia tecta Moab, et in plateis ejus,
omnis planctus:
quoniam contrivi Moab
sicut vas inutile, ait Dominus.

39 Quomodo victa est, et ululaverunt?
quomodo dejecit cervicem Moab, et confusus est?
eritque Moab in derisum, et in exemplum omnibus in circuitu suo.

40 Hæc dicit Dominus:
Ecce quasi aquila volabit,
et extendet alas suas ad Moab.

41 Capta est Carioth, et munitiones comprehensæ sunt:
et erit cor fortium Moab in die illa
sicut cor mulieris parturientis,

42 et cessabit Moab esse populus,
quoniam contra Dominum gloriatus est.

43 Pavor, et fovea,
et laqueus super te,
o habitator Moab, dicit Dominus.

44 Qui fugerit a facie pavoris cadet in foveam,
et qui conscenderit de fovea capietur laqueo:
adducam enim super Moab annum visitationis eorum, ait Dominus.

45 In umbra Hesebon steterunt de laqueo fugientes,
quia ignis egressus est de Hesebon,
et flamma de medio Seon:
et devorabit partem Moab,
et verticem filiorum tumultus.

46 Væ tibi, Moab:
periisti, popule Chamos,
quia comprehensi sunt filii tui
et filiæ tuæ in captivitatem.

47 Et convertam captivitatem Moab in novissimis diebus, ait Dominus.] Hucusque judicia Moab.
